The City of Asheville has been discussing what to do with the empty eyesore in Downtown Asheville across from the Basilica of St. Lawrence and the U.S. Cellular Center for some time now, a couple of years at least. The city wants to put something there. The word on the street is there has been discussion of creating some type of park for kids, as there is not a dedicated space for kid friendly items in this area. The closest thing is “Splashville”, located in Pack’s Square.
With a committee working on ideas, there is a lot of conversation about what to do with the empty lot until a permanent structure can be created. The Asheville Citizen Times reported the possibility of a food truck and farmers marketing could pop up.
